The tournament year in Yerevan opens in January with the Andranik Margaryan memorial at the Chess Academy and the Mayor's Cup in Masis. Spring brings the Academy Cup in stages, Yerevan Spring at the Arabkir chess school on Komitas Avenue and the Hovhannes Danielyan memorial, a round robin in May. The Stepan Avagyan youth memorial follows in late May or June, and the Tigran Petrosian international youth festival in June.

Summer has the Arsen Yeghiazaryan memorial, Sunny Chess at the Chess House and the Abovyan Open. The Children's Cup comes in September, the Yerevan Blitz Cup in October, the Chess House championship ends in December and the Yerevan Open takes place in the first week of that month. Around them run qualification-category tournaments in Masis and Ashtarak, the Street Chess series and amateur blitz evenings.
